The Skills at School
Together we can…
Reimagine educational systems through intentionally teaching the skills that matter for a good life.
Teach skills not just through lessons—but through holistic integration in all systems and structures of school.
Center children’s humanity, connections, natural interests and development into their goal setting.
Prepare children to positively contribute to their community with confidence, integrity, and purpose.
In schools, skill development lives at the intersection of instruction, behavior, relationships, and systems. When Universal Skills are treated as a shared foundation—rather than a separate program—students experience greater clarity, consistency, and support across classrooms, hallways, and interventions. These skills support not only how students learn, but how they regulate, communicate, problem-solve, and participate in a learning community.
Our work helps schools and districts intentionally embed Universal Skills across existing structures such as MTSS, PBIS, PLP, SEL, and instructional frameworks. Drawing on three years of experience as a school principal and four years as a district-level coordinator, we understand the realities of implementation, alignment, and sustainability. We partner with educators to create a common language, align practices across tiers, and build staff capacity through coaching and professional learning. When these skills are integrated as the backbone of school systems, we consistently see stronger student outcomes—academically, behaviorally, and socially—along with increased coherence for staff and clearer expectations for students.
